Tom Scott Memorial Races

9th April 2006
4.5 mile results  |  10 mile results
Two races in one at Strathclyde Loch.
The 10-mile race was comfortably won by Glen Stewart, with no other runner in sight.
At the last minute I decided on the single lap of Strathclyde Loch, so that I could race the 10-mile guys for a while before dropping out and getting some photos. Unexpectedly, I finished first in a time of 24:41. The distance was around 4½ miles.

Alpine Ben Lomond

Fantastic spring snow. After a morning of foul freezing rain in Glasgow, the afternoon turned out quite unexpected. Went for a jog up Ben Lomond with Claire Gordon. She ran away from me on the climb, but I kept up on the descent.

Loughrigg Fell Race

5th April 2005
4 miles, 1140ft
Results  |  Photos
Wednesday evening hill race from Ambleside. The route is an out and back to the summit of Loughrigg starting from the park behind the church. Steep tarmac, then stony track, then undulating open fellside. Some good fast running on the way back, with very steep downhill tarmac just before the finish back in the park. Nick Sharp won the race by a few seconds from Tim Austin who was leading at the summit, but apparently got lost on the way back. Natalie White broke the ladies' record with 32:00. I finished 11th in 31:56.
