Criffel Hill Race

Results
After plodding round the Dumfries Marathon, I wandered down to New Abbey and took a few photos of the Criffel Hill Race. Once again master descender Brian Marshall cruised to victory. First lady was Jill Mykura in 8th place overall.

Results
A nice enough route, but not one of the most enjoyable ways of spending the morning when you've done virtually no road training. Died a slow painful death after about 16 miles. Just about got going again for the last few miles, enough to sneak under 3:10, my original plan of sub-3hrs long since out the window.

Milton 10k

In recovering from leukaemia, my brother-in-law Milton is now planning to run his first 10k race on May 28th, just one year since receiving his bone marrow transplant. Milton is raising money for CancerBACUP at his JustGiving Page

Winter Dumgoyne

Eight of us went for a "run" up Dumgoyne and Garloch Hill last night. The team was Trevor, Robert, Peter, John, Graham, Jane, Clare and myself. Fairly hard work in the conditions.

No official word, but I'm guessing the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon was cancelled.

Lairig Mor

Results
As a bit of light relief before tomorrow's Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon, I drove up to Fort William for Lochaber's Lairig Mor Race along the final 14 miles of West Highland Way. I started steadily and only lead for the first mile or so, before I let John Hepburn and Peter Kennedy pull away from me. Next to pass was John Kennedy, followed by Michael Diver. I ran with Paul McLean for a while, before he dropped out with a twisted ankle. Three other runners passed, but I got 2 of these back in the second half, plus Peter Kennedy who faded badly. Two other runners caught me later on. The first was George Cairns, then near the end Niall MacBeath came storming through having a great run. I got a major kick up the arse when Niall arrived, and used him to get past Ken Rumgay before the final bit of road. I planned to drop Niall as soon as we hit the road, but in fact the opposite happened, and my sprint finish never materialised.
Somehow Michael Diver must have got lost, since he finished behind me, without me knowingly having overtaken him.
