Alice Garnier and I climbed this strange mountain with a hole through it, before driving for hours and hours down to the Italian coast, by which time it was late and dark and we had almost run out of petrol and no petrol stations were open. We ended up getting pizza at Grado. Then camping at some mosquito swamps between Grado and Monfalcone. Horrendous mosquitos, but fantastic sunrise in the morning.

Hi Chris,
Just stumbled across your blog, your photos of your trip to Slovenia look fantastic. Am heading there at the end of August for two weeks, was wondering what guide book did you have for climbing the mountains??
Thanks for checking out the photos. The guidebooks I used were Cicerone's Julian Alps of Slovenia, and the Sidarta Guide - Mountaineering in Slovenia. I also bought large scale maps with trails marked once over there.
Good luck. It's a great place to explore!
